Tire protection plan

Extended mileage warranty and road hazard protection: what the plan covers, how to make a claim and what is not covered.

Extended mileage warranty

Your tire has a specific treadwear warranty. Tires that do not obtain the mileage specified will be replaced on a pro-rated basis. For example, if a tire with a 40,000 mile warranty only obtains 20,000 miles, you pay a prorated amount of 50% of the current selling price of that tire on a comparable tire. A tire is considered worn out when 3/32nds or less of tread remain evenly worn across the tire.

Road hazard protection

Your tire is protected from damage by road hazards until the tire is worn out (3/32nds or less of tread) or 9 years from the date of manufacture of the tire as noted on the tire itself (the D.O.T. number), whichever comes first. A road hazard is any puncture of the tire body that makes the tire unsafe and unserviceable (subject to the exclusions below).

If the tire becomes unsafe or unusable due to a road hazard, Discount Tire Centers will replace the tire at no charge, provided the tire is not worn below 3/32nds of usable tread. If an examination shows the tire can be repaired, Discount Tire Centers will repair it at no charge. Balancing, valve stem, taxes, state fees and road hazard protection charges for the new tire are required for the replacement tire. This warranty is not available for tires with Run Flat Technology.

This warranty covers replacement or credit towards future merchandise, in part or in full, and does not imply a cash refund. Warranty service must be performed at a Discount Tire & Service Centers location in Southern California.

Save your paperwork

You must present your original Tire Protection Certificate and invoice at Discount Tire & Service Centers as proof of purchase for any warranty claim.

This warranty applies to the original purchaser identified on the invoice. It will be honored at a Discount Tire Centers location with presentation of the tire, proof of purchase and the warranty. It is not transferable to any other vehicle or owner. The warranty does not transfer to any replacement tire provided under its terms; the replacement tire requires the purchase of a new warranty.

What is not covered

This warranty does not provide tire repair or replacement under the following conditions:

  • Commercial use
  • Off-road use
  • Competition use
  • Tire damage resulting from vehicle collision, vandalism, fire, or fender well cuts on extra wide wheels
  • Irregular tread wear caused by mechanical conditions, under-inflation or lack of owner maintenance
  • Use of chains

This warranty does not include any obligations or liabilities for incidental or consequential damages.

Get the most from your warranty

To protect your warranty, we recommend:

  • Checking the air pressure at least once a month.
  • Rotating and rebalancing your tires at 5,000 miles. Rotation is free with proof of tire purchase.
